Clinical Therapist

Accepting resumes in Riverside, California

We are looking for a badass, truth telling, relationship healing, passionate couples therapist. Is that you?

Why did you decide to become a therapist?

Many of us in the field have deeply personal stories about how we chose this field or why we felt called to it. You might have imagined opportunities to witness real healing and transformation in your clients. Perhaps in grad school you learned about amazing and creative ways therapy can change lives, families, and communities. You likely felt excited, honored, and a little intimidated at the prospect of being part of such important work.

If you’re like most of us, you have also experienced some disillusionment at the realities of working as a provider in mental health.

Those experiences you dreamed about in graduate school might seem like complete fairy tales as you face the reality of low insurance reimbursements, heavy caseloads, and the constant struggle to fit what you know is best for your clients into the small box of what insurance or Medi-Cal will actually pay for. Sadly, you might have become quite adept at the double-speak required to get your client’s services covered while also actually meeting their needs. These things quietly eat away at your soul.

There is hope

Inland Empire Couples Counseling is a sparkly, shining star in that sea of black. We’re a place where you can do the great clinical work you dreamed of without burnout.

Inland Empire Couples Counseling (IECC) is looking for a licensed therapist (associates accepted with 1500+ hours general experience OR clinical experience with couples OR training in a couples therapy modality) to join our private practice and work at minimum 12 hours per week. Health, vision, and dental insurance available for therapists maintaining 20+ clinical hours per week. This position is perfect for you if you want the perks of working in private practice without the stress and responsibility of being a business owner. If you’ve been working in a managed-care setting and are discouraged because the opportunities to work with couples are few and far between, we might be just the place you’ve been hoping for!

Benefits of working with us:

What our therapists say:

What do you like about working here?

I highly enjoy the support from my boss and team members. My boss is highly available and promotes teamwork. She is considerate of the team as well as our individual well-being.

Love the staff, of course, because we’re all amazing and everyone is super helpful

Not having any experience with couples was super scary but Rebecca set me up for success with all the trainings and our structured intakes

Flexibility with schedule and ability to practice in our own creative ways

How would you describe what the clinical work is like?

Challenging but taps into critical and creative thinking

Collaborative notes help with making sure we’re on track and gives opportunities for therapist feedback/reassurance that I’m being helpful

In regards to paperwork, IECC helps to make our system easy and efficient

The clinical work is challenging, but enriching. The work is very diverse. This clinical work promotes continuous learning of couples strategies and skills to enhance therapeutic skill. Moreover, the caseload is manageable and can easily fit one's schedule.

How would you describe our company culture?

Our company culture is the best. We have each other's backs and if we ever have questions the team is available to help tackle these questions. In my personal experience, I have grown with the team and have continuously felt supported.

Friendly, authentic, helpful/supportive, flexible, fun/creative

What do you think a therapist should know before starting to work here?

You don’t need lots of experience with couples to be successful. This is a great place to learn and grow.

Self-care is extremely important. Sometimes, the work can feel a little heavier when one does not have a "good day" or things in life are off balance. Also, being open to learning and feedback.

You are right for us if:

Job Details:

  • Minimum 12 client hours per week required. Therapists maintaining 20+ clinical hours per week are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance.

  • You will be paid for all hours worked. Pay rate for non-clinical work is $25/hour and pay for clinical work is $50-70/hour. (some practices that offer percentage splits don’t pay for admin time or only pay you when an insurance company pays them. We encourage you to take this into consideration when you’re weighing your options. Pay at our practice will be predictable and you won’t ever have hours worked that aren’t paid.)

  • All employees are eligible to enroll in a 401k plan with company match

  • All employees are eligible for paid sick leave according to California State Law

  • All therapists are eligible for up to $500 per year in education reimbursement

  • All therapists must be available for our weekly team meeting on Thursdays from 1:00-2:00 pm. It sounds dry, but this meeting is seriously incredible. Our therapists are often sad to miss it when they take time off or plan their time off around still getting to attend the Thursday meeting. It’s magic!

  • You set your own schedule but must be available at the same hours each week. You must be available 2 evenings per week or 1 weekend day. These are the most popular times for couples therapy. We will have a hard time filling your schedule if you are only available weekday mornings.

  • During your training (probationary period) all therapists licensed or prelicensed will meet with Rebecca for weekly supervision. There are some unique challenges to seeing couples in this type of setting and we want you to be successful from the very start. We’ve learned through experience that it’s much better to provide you a lot of support and training in the beginning than to push you in to the deep end and find out months later that you’re almost drowning.

If we’re right for you and you think you’re the one we’re looking for, apply now!
